About me.
I am the mother of two wonderful kids, both professionals and married. My beautiful daughter Nicole works as a technician at the Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL) at the Eglin Air Force Base (AFB). My beautiful son Tony is a professional electrical engineer.
The way I view the world has helped me to never give up on my dreams. I have been through times when I have lost all confidence in myself and felt weak, insecure, and depressed. Conquering these problems has helped me build resilience and become even more powerful. During most of my childhood and in my late twenties I struggled with asthma, which prevented me from playing sports or running. When I gave birth to my kids I gained so much weight that all my clothes did not fit me and I felt very uncomfortable with myself. That is when I started to think about losing weight and that was the time when my journey started.
I decided to start running and with the help of my coach I became a long distance runner. I qualified for the U.S Olympic trials in two marathon events, the Grandma’s Marathon (1998) finishing in 14 place overall woman in 2:44:58 (6:17 Min/Mile). And after 4 months I ran the New York City Marathon finishing with the time of 2:49:50 (6:28 Pace/Mile). After reaching my goals as a runner, I was committed to continuing my education in health and wellness in order to help others achieve their goals.
Professional background
I am certified as a health coach by the American Council on Exercise (ACE). “To date, the ACE Health Coach certification program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). NCCA accreditation has long been the gold standard for certification for the majority of healthcare and allied healthcare professions, including, but not limited to, the fields of nursing, occupational therapy, dietetics, and diabetes education”(ACE, 2019).
I am a certified personal trainer since 2007 by the same organization (ACE). And the same year I obtained an Associate degree in Applied Science (A.A.S).
I worked as part of an amazing team for ten years at the 92nd Street Y May Center for Health, Fitness & Sport in New York City. I worked with my clients in developing and implementing personalized exercise programs that helped them to improve their fitness and overall well-being.
The years that I worked in this wonderful place helped me to reinforce my education and my passion in continuing to help people achieve better health and wellness in a holistic approach.
